Computer Donation / Refurbishment Program

Please help someone in need through our Computer Donation / Refurbishment Program.

The laptops and tablets we refurbish are donated to families in need through Family Service League. These donations are so valuable for families with several children, who have no equipment for their school work, except for their parent’s cell phone. They have also helped housebound disabled and elderly connect with their families. Here are a few of their stories:

Dana is a widow and single mom of three (8, 11, and 14-year-old girls) and an insurance agent.  In April, she began working remotely while her children were also attending school remotely.  There was only one computer in their home so the children were borrowing laptops from friends. This was far from ideal.  The refurbished computer from SeniorNet made a huge difference allowing the children and mom to work from home simultaneously.

Jeffrey’s a 23-year-old living at home with his mother as his parents are divorced. His father died suddenly and his father’s girlfriend took his dad’s computer to her house an hour away.  Instead of negotiating to try to get this laptop back, SeniorNet gave Jeffrey a refurbished Chromebook. This Chromebook has been so helpful to Jeffrey as he uses it to play games, go on the internet, and most importantly, to connect with his support system.

Eileen from Chicago was visiting her friend Larry in Huntington during COVID.  Both in their 70’s, Eileen was afraid to travel back home and decided to stay in New York.  Larry was thrilled to have her stay but used his laptop every day to research various topics, use social media, and write short stories.  Sharing Larry’s computer is very problematic.  It was really the only source of tension in their relationship.  The refurbished SeniorNet laptop has been a huge help to them.

Your donation makes a direct difference in their quality of life!
