Registration is open until 10 AM sharp one day before the start of a class. To participate in our classes register and pay online with a credit or debit card. If you prefer to pay by check or cash, contact the office at 631-470-6757, or register in person at REGISTRATION DAY at Huntington, Bay Shore, and Blue Point.

Students are encouraged to bring their updated, fully charged iPad to class.

Expand your knowledge of the iPad’s capabilities. Subjects covered are Safari settings and Safari searches, creating and using Bookmarks, adding a website icon to your home page, closing Safari tabs, activating and using Siri, navigating with maps, streaming music, the iTunes Store, reading and downloading eBooks.

Students are encouraged to bring their Android Smartphone or iPhone to class.

Prerequisite: Ability to take photos with your iPhone or Android phone.

Photography can add so much to our lives by recording and sharing special events, places, family and friends, and most importantly, our cherished memories. It can also be a wonderful hobby, as it gets us out and about, keeps us busy and creative, and enables us to continue to learn, grow, and enjoy life.

Join us for this four-lesson class, to learn about some of the most popular types of photography (Portraiture, Candid, Landscape, and Nature), best practices to improve your photography skills, tips and techniques to enhance the quality of your photos, and photo editing to adjust/enhance your most important photos.


PC Computing Basics 1

Knowledge of these basic functions is a prerequisite for all other computer-based classes including PC Computing Basics 2.

To begin this class, you need to know nothing about computers and simply have a desire to learn. Students will learn how to properly start and stop a Windows computer. From there we will teach and give you experience with the most used computer functions: using the mouse, keyboard, and desktop, word processing, accessing the Internet, creating and responding to emails, and how to use flash drives for performing classroom exercises. Prerequisite: none

Windows 11 is Microsoft’s new operating system. Does your computer have the prerequisite hardware and software in order to upgrade to it? Join SeniorNet in this two-week class to learn the fundamentals of the Windows 11 operating system. We will teach you how to customize your computer and cover many of the differences between Windows 10 and 11.

Students are encouraged to bring their charged iPhone to class.

Starting from scratch or taking this class as a refresher, you’ll gain confidence using an iPhone. Basic subjects covered are communicating with others using the phone, email, and text messages, and using Safari (Apple’s internet browser). Building on this, we will cover using voicemail and contacts (the address book), as well as downloading and organizing apps. In short, this two-lesson class will give you confidence in using this incredible device.

You will need to bring your charged Mac Laptop & mouse (if you use one) to class.

Your photos are one of your most precious possessions. We will explore the app and how it can help you work with all your photos in the most efficient way. You will need to bring your charged, Mac laptop and a mouse (if you use one) to class. iPads and iPhones CANNOT be used for this class.


Windows 11: Advanced

Prerequisite: PC Computing Basics 1 or 2 (formerly named Introduction to Computers 1 or 2), Windows 11: An Introduction, or comparable skills.

In this two-week class we will teach you some of the more advanced tools of the Windows 11 operating system. Among the many other features of Windows 11, this class will include how to install programs, the new and (more useful) File Explorer app. and some of the options you have in case your computer malfunctions. It is highly suggested that you complete Windows11: An Introduction prior to taking this class.

iPhone: What’s Next

Thursdays from 1:00 PM – 3:30 PM on May 2, 9

2 sessions of 2.5 hours each / Cost: $25

Students are encouraged to bring their charged iPhone to class.

Expand your knowledge of the iPhone’s capabilities. Subjects covered are using the iPhone’s Camera and Photo Apps; using Siri (let your iPhone do the typing and some of the work); Maps (get directions); and using productivity apps such as Calendar, Reminders, and Notes. The class finishes with an introduction to Apple’s iCloud. This two-lesson class expands your knowledge of the iPhone and will make you feel like a Pro.


Where are my photos?;

Where Are My Photos?

Mondays from 1:00 PM – 3:30 PM on May 6, 13, 20

Prerequisite: File Explorer is used to create folders and organize files on a PC and is an integral part of this class. You must inform us if you need pre-class assistance with File Explorer, which may be made available as a quick review.

Students may bring their own Windows laptops or use our Windows PCs. This course is ONLY appropriate for Windows PC & iPhone / iPad users using iCloud Photos.

Taking photos with an iPhone has become so easy, and so much fun! But having hundreds, or even thousands of our treasured photos, spread across multiple devices and platforms, can cause confusion, and become a frustrating dilemma!

“Where Are My Photos?” is a three lesson class in which you will learn how to get your photos organized, making them more easily accessible, and keeping them safely stored and backed up.

In this class, you’ll learn how to: organize iPhone photos into albums (for easy viewing, arranging, and to create Memories videos); keep photo libraries clean (by deleting unwanted and merging duplicate photos); utilize cloud service providers for backing up photos to the cloud, as well as how to back up photos to external devices (to enable recovery in case of a device failure or loss, and to free up valuable iPhone space); store and organize photos into folders on your PC (for editing, emailing, and as an additional backup); copy photos to your PC from other sources (ncluding emails and text messages); edit your photos (to fix mistakes and enhance quality); upload photos from your PC to iCloud (to capture edited photos, and photos from other sources); and utilize a photo website (as an additional backup, and to create prints, photo books, calendars, and more.)

What is this mysterious iCloud — what does it do and how does it help me? iCloud securely stores your photos, videos, documents, music, apps, and more — and keeps them updated across all your devices. It lets you easily share photos, calendars, locations, and more with friends and family. You can even use iCloud to help you find your device if you lose it. All will be answered in this course about storage, backing up and sharing between devices.

This four-lesson class will build on the skills you started to develop in PC Computing Basics 1. We will teach you to enhance your desktop, the basics of the file system, and advanced features of word processing. We will teach you how to access the Internet and how to save your most frequently visited websites. Additionally, you will learn how the use the new free Microsoft Outlook mail client.

Facebook class is appropriate for PC, Mac, iPad & iPhone.

If you are confused by Facebook, or have never tried this social network, this class is for you. This class will help you understand, navigate, and enjoy using Facebook features on both desktop and mobile apps (iPad and iPhone).

Prerequisite: PC Computing Basics 1 (previously named Introduction to Computers 1).

While Windows 11 is the Operating System used, the concepts and instructions are appropriate for most earlier versions of Windows.

Managing files is one of the most important tasks for personal computer users. Simply stated, if you can’t locate a file, you can’t use it. You’ll learn how to create a filing system, how to create folders, and how to navigate through the filing system that you designed.

Microsoft Excel: For Beginners and Beyond

Thursdays from 1:00 PM – 3:30 PM on June 6, 13, 20, 27

4 sessions of 2 1/2 hours / $45.00

This course is appropriate for Mac and PC users.

This four-lesson class is for those who wish to begin or increase their ability to use Microsoft Excel spreadsheets. The lessons will go from the basics to using the Excel spreadsheet as a database. For those of you that are entirely new to spreadsheets, a spreadsheet at its simplest is a table consisting of columns and rows used to store textual information. Its purpose is to store, manipulate, and present financial and other quantitative information. Keep in mind that you don’t need to know everything about using spreadsheets. Homework and practice are essential for learning and ultimately retaining what you’ve learned. So, set aside time for homework and enjoy learning.

The fee for the each hour is $20 payable three business days in advance. Handouts may be included.
