Mac Computer Basics
3 sessions of 2.5 hours each
You will need to bring your Mac laptop to class in order to participate. Please make sure your Mac is fully charged and it’s been updated to the latest operating system, which currently is Mac OS 27 Golden Gate. Prerequisite: none
Knowledge of these basic functions is a prerequisite for Mac Computer Advanced.
This class is intended to show students the basic workings of their Mac laptop. We will explore the “Menu Bar”, learn the things Siri can do & examine “The Dock” where your apps are displayed. We will go over System Preferences so you can set up your Mac in the way that works best for you. You’ll learn how to customize your desktop, how to use some special features with text & email and how to fill in your contacts. Lastly, we’ll learn about Safari and how to use it to access the internet.
Lesson 1
We will explore Mac Symbols, Shortcuts, Setting up an Apple ID, Touch ID and the Menu Bar.
Lesson 2
A tour of the “Dock”; Using System preferences to set up your Mac the way you want it; How to customize your desktop & using screensavers.
Lesson 3
Safari, Mac’s Internet browser, Contacts, Messages (Texting) and Using Maps.
