iPhone: An Introduction
4 sessions of 2.5 hours
Students are encouraged to bring their iPhone to class.
Starting from scratch or taking this class as a refresher you’ll gain confidence using your iPhone. Basic subjects covered are communicating with others using the phone, email, and text messages, and using Safari (Apple’s internet browser). Building on this, we will cover using voicemail and contacts (the address book), as well as downloading and organizing apps. Learn how the new Passwords App can help you save and create passwords.
Additional subjects covered are the Camera and Photo Apps; Siri (let your iPhone do the typing and some of the work); Maps (get directions); and the Calendar. The class finishes with an introduction to Apple’s iCloud, Find My and the Health App. Learn about the synergies between apps to make you more productive in your everyday life. This four-lesson class expands your knowledge of the iPhone and will make you feel like a Pro. In short, this class will give you confidence in using this incredible device.
Lesson 1: Basic Settings, Operation, Contacts, Email, Messages,
In this first class, you will get the basics of how to operate your iPhone and the settings that will help it become most useful to you. Learn several ways to make phone calls, manage voicemails, send emails, text messages, enjoy Facetime, and set up your Contacts. Learn how to personalize your Wallpaper and Home Screen.
Lesson 2: Email, Messages, Safari, Apps & Passwords App
Apps are what put the “smart” in the smartphone. In this session, you will learn how to use the apps that come pre-installed on the iPhone, and how to search for, download and manage some of the many apps that are available. You will learn how to download apps and organize app icons. Learn how to surf the Internet using Safari, Apple’s browser, and save your favorite bookmarks. Learn how the new Passwords App can help you save and create passwords.
Lesson 3: The Camera & Photo App
When world-famous photographer Annie Leibovitz was asked in an interview what kind of camera people should buy, she responded, “An iPhone.” This session will help explain why she said that. Ease of use is one reason. You will learn how to share pictures with friends and family and find and organize your photos in the Photos App.
Lesson 4: Siri, Maps, Calendar, Health App, iCloud & Find My
Get tips on using Siri, Maps, and Calendar Apps. Learn about iCloud and Find My and why it’s important to you. Have fun with Siri, Apple’s assistant. Learn to use Maps and learn how to set up your Health Profile and Emergency Contact in the Health App
