STUFF TO KNOW
Registration is open until 10 AM sharp one day before the start of a class. To participate in our classes register and pay online with a credit or debit card. If you prefer to pay by check or cash, contact the office at 631-470-6757, or register in person at OPEN HOUSE at Huntington, Bay Shore, and Blue Point.

Students are encouraged to bring their charged iPhone to class.
Starting from scratch or taking this course as a refresher you’ll gain confidence using an iPhone. Basic subjects covered are communicating with others using the phone, email, and text messages, and using Safari (Apple’s internet browser). Building on this, we will cover using voicemail and contacts (the address book), as well as downloading and organizing apps. Learn how the new Passwords App can help you save and create passwords. In short, this two-lesson class will give you confidence in using this incredible device.

This course is appropriate for PC, Mac, Chromebook and tablet users.
Google provides a complete suite of FREE Apps for word processing, spreadsheets, email, calendars and more. This class will teach you the basics of the Google Docs word processor to create and format documents. Write a letter, create minutes from a meeting, produce a newsletter; it’s all possible using Google Docs.

There has been a lot of buzz around AI lately. But what is this latest technology craze really about? How does it work and what are the risks? Learn about the state of AI at the moment and get hands on experience using the biggest names in AI, Microsoft’s Copilot and OpenAI’s ChatGPT.

This course is appropriate for Chromebooks, PC’s and Mac computers.
You’re welcome to bring your own Chromebook, PC or Mac to class.
Gmail, Google’s FREE email app, makes it easy to open, read, reply to and compose new emails, and it’s becoming even more popular since it’s built into the Chromebooks that have caught on as an affordable computer option. In this class you’ll learn how to use Gmail’s basic features including how to add contacts in an address book, attach files such as pictures and documents to emails, and forward emails to others.
If you’ve never used email before or don’t have a Google account, this class will help you get started; and if you’re using another email service now, you’ll learn why Gmail may be an attractive option. If you have a Google account please bring the name of the account and password with you. You’re welcome to bring your own Chromebook, PC or Mac to class.

You must come to class with Canva installed on your charged laptop.
To do this go to www.canva.com and create an account. Once you do, you’re ready to go!
This is a special class designed for those of you who have been using Microsoft Publisher and now will be working with Canva, an online graphic design program, as its replacement. You have created newsletters and calendars for your organization and do not want to have to recreate your templates. In four lessons, we will get you started and on your way.
Canva is an online graphic design app. It can help you transform the way you create with AI-powered tools. It is very user friendly and offers a large assortment of templates, images, and design elements to help you make cards, invitations, certificates, newsletters, Facebook pages and so much more.

Prerequisite: PC Computing Basics 1 or 2 or comparable skills.
Managing files is one of the most important tasks for personal computer users. Simply stated, if you can’t locate a file, you can’t use it. You’ll learn how to create a filing system, how to create folders, and how to navigate through the filing system that you designed.
